Man in Custody for Burglary, Charged with Another Burglary
Police charged Carlos Velasquez for criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, a misdemeanor, after they learned he was responsible for a June 26 burglary on Wesley Avenue, Police Lt. James Ladeairous said.
Velasquez allegedly stole 11 wristwatches, a pocket watch, 9 paper pieces of assorted foreign currency and foreign coins that were all contained in a cigar box, Ladeairous said.
Velasquez is already in police custody and has been since July 4 when he was arrested for allegedly breaking into a home, and then attempting to flee the police station while being processed, Ladeairous said. On July 4 he was charged with felony burglary, Resisting Arrest and felony Escape.
