Man Falls Asleep, Drunk, at Wheel of Running Car in Port Chester

Port Chester police on Nov. 29 arrested a 54-year-old Connecticut man who appeared to have passed out at the wheel of his car, in gear, in the middle of Midland Avenue.

Rafael Cepeda, of 40 Summitt Ave., Norwalk, was charged with driving under the influence.

According to Port Chester Police Lt. James Ladeairous, a police officer spotted a Honda Odyssey in the middle of the road in front of Home Depot around 11:15 p.m.

The officer honked and put on his lights when the light went green, then checked on the vehicle, police said. Inside, Cepeda could be seen, with the car running and in drive, with no seatbelt on and his eyes closed, police said. He had a hard time finding the button to lower the window when the officer knocked on it, and then failed field sobriety tests, police said.
