Late Night Shrimp Run Leads to Petty Larceny Charge

The Port Chester man had trouble hiding five bags of frozen shrimp as he tried to leave the Midland Avenue Pathmark.

A Port Chester man's late-night craving earned him a petty larceny charge when he tried to leave a grocery store with five bags of frozen shrimp, Port Chester police said.

Spencer Crumbsie, 54, walked into the Pathmark store on Midland Avenue after midnight on Sunday and headed for the frozen food aisle. Crumbsie grabbed five bags -- two pounds -- of frozen shrimp worth $80 and headed for the exits, Lt. James Ladeairous said.

When Crumbsie made his way past the registers and toward the door, store employees stopped him and called police. Crumbsie, of Grace Church Street, was charged with misdemeanor petty larceny.
