Kohl's Shoplifter Says She Couldn't Afford Christmas Presents

A Connecticut woman told police she stole from a Port Chester department store because she couldn't afford Christmas presents for her father.

An accused shoplifter told police she was stealing with the intention of giving after she was nabbed outside of the Port Chester on Monday.

Store security officers kept their eye on 19-year-old Amy McDonnell as she walked into the 431 Boston Post Rd. department store at 1:18 p.m. They told police they observed McDonnell place a tie, a watch and a men's shirt into her pocketbook.

When McDonnell passed the cashiers and headed for the exits, store security stopped her and called police, Lt. James Ladeairous said.
