PCFD Honors Former Chief Neils Hansen at Funeral

Neils Hansen was a graduate of Port Chester High School and served the community as a firefighter for almost 50 years.

The Port Chester Fire Department bid farewell to one of its longest-serving members this weekend.

Neils Hansen, 67, was honored during a Saturday morning funeral at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on King Street. Firefighters joined Hansen's family and friends at the funeral service, offering solemn words and fond memories before saying their goodbyes.

Hansen was a Port Chester High School graduate and served as a member of Mellor Engine & Hose Company #3 for 49 years. Hansen wore many hats during almost five decades as a firefighter, serving as an engineer, an assistant chief and chief of the Port Chester Fire Department.
