Dump Truck Driver Charged with DWI

A Port Chester man was arrested by Greenwich police after cops pulled over the dump truck he was driving and administered field sobriety tests.

A 40-year-old Port Chester man was arrested on several motor vehicle charges stemming from an accident with a dump truck he was driving on Byram Road.

According to a Greenwich Police report, the driver, identified as Pedro A. Torres-Gatteras, was charged after police said they found him with bloodshoot eyes, slurred speech and the smell of alcohol emanating from his vehicle. He is accused of being unsteady on his feet and leaning against the dump truck to keep from falling.

Police said Torres-Gutierrez, 40, of 24 Grove St., declined to participate in sobriety tests following his arrest. He was released on Byram Road and was charged with driving while intoxicated,

He was able to post the $1,000 bond set on charges of evading resonsibility, operating under the influence, operating without a license, and failure to drive in a proper lane. His court date is Nov. 14 in Greenwich
