CT Man Accused of Damaging Boat in Port Chester Marina

Boat owner sees man leaving boat, holds him for police.

A 37-year-old Stamford, CT, man was arrested this morning on charges that he did $500 worth of damage to a boat in the Port Chester Marina, according to Port Chester Police.

Caio Pifer of 43 Halloween Boulevard, Stamford, was spotted leaving a 1988 Sunrunner at a dock in the marina at 5:19 a.m. Police said the boat owner was on his way to his boat when he saw Pifer.

Police said the boat owner, a 44-year-old Port Chester man, had a confrontation with Pifer and Pifer ran off. However, police said the boat owner spotted Pifer a short time later and was able to hold him for police.

The boat owner said nothing was taken from the boat, but that a door on the boat had been broken open, causing about $500 worth of damage.

Pifer was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and faces a hearing in Port Chester Village Court.
