Court: Adjournment for Alleged Rapist; NYC Man's License Suspended 39 Times

Rape, drug possession, and DWI were among the cases at Port Chester Courthouse's August 9th session.

A Port Chester man will return to court on Aug. 16 after his arrest late last month for allegedly having sex with a then-13-year-old girl.

Valentine Guandique, 29, was brought to Port Chester village court on Monday for a preliminary hearing. He's been jailed since July 30, when the victim's mother learned Guandique and her daughter had been carrying on a year-long relationship.

Guandique, a Guatemalan native, lived with the victim and her mother in their Seymour Road home. The girl, now 14, initially told a family friend about the relationship, and the concerned friend told the girl's mother.

Guandique has told police he didn't believe he was doing anything wrong. Port Chester police say the case mirrors similar rape incidents in the village, where suspects plead ignorance because the laws of their native country are different from American statutory rape law.

The Port Chester man is accused of rape in the second degree. He's been held at Westchester County Jail on $5,000 bail. The case is adjourned until August 16.

Jose Quinones-Otero, 35, of Staten Island, was charged with making an illegal left turn, when police caught him last July. When going through his record, they realized that Otero was wanted on dozens of driving infractions in several different towns and cities.

Otero pleaded guilty. He'll return to Port Chester court on Sept. 9 for sentencing.

A Port Chester woman pleaded guilty to shoplifting at a local Marshall's.

Elaine Hall, 41, of Port Chester, was accused of petty larceny, when she stole three pairs of shoes worth a total value of $109 last month.
