Cops: Rye Brook Man Punches Wall After DWI Arrest

59 year-old man charged by Greenwich police after he's stopped on West Putnam Avenue.

A 59 year-old Rye Brook man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after officers witnessed him operating his vehicle erratically on East Putnam Avenue, according to the Greenwich Police Department.

Patrol officers were alerted to a maroon Jeep Cherokee with New York license plates that was possibly being operated by an intoxicated driver, according to police. Town officers followed the vehicle as it was traveling westbound on East Putnam Avenue and saw that it was straddling the double yellow lines. As it continued to travel, the vehicle started crossing over into two westbound travel lanes, police said. It then attempted to make a left turn onto Milbank Avenue where it almost collided with vehicles driving in the opposite direction.

The vehicle was pulled over and as the officer approached it, the driver, Joseph Breslin of 54 Woodland Drive, started to exit, according to police. The officer said that Breslin stared at him for a few seconds before asking, "What the [expletive] do you want?"

The officer, police said, observed that Breslin appeared intoxicated and arrested the man.

After arriving at the police department, the officer said that Breslin struggled with him when he was asked to exit the police car. Police also said that Breslin became "belligerent" and punched a wall as he was being processed. He was later taken to Greenwich Hospital for treatment.

Breslin was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and traffic violations. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 6.

Linda T., I would guess Mrs. Brakewood lives in Port Chester if she is running for the Port ChesterRead More Board of Ed. Even if the schools had to impose an austerity budget, your taxes would still go up. The state has more control in these matters than you think.

Linda, the per pupil expenditure in PC schools is the lowest in Westchester and Rockland countiesRead More ... by about $2,000 per student. The issue is two fold. First, our property values are not as strong as our neighbors, so our homes have a higher levy in order to fund the schools. Second, and more important, is that the reliance on property taxes slams moderate income communities like PC. We need for the state to move to an income tax to fund schools. Scream at your legislators ... not the BoE.

I am concerned there is not enough attention to detail in the BOE budget overall and Mrs. BrakewoodRead More comment about keeping taxes affordable ... where does she live ? they are out of control and in my opinion the money we pay for taxes we should have the best looking schools anywhere ... just my opinion
