ORIGINAL POST

Port Chester village officials and residents quickly expressed their support on Friday as police announced that a dozen people had been arrested in an 18-month-long investigation of drug dealing on the streets of Port Chester.

"The people of Port Chester should view this announcement as a prime indicator of the professionalism, dedication and on-going accomplishments of our Police Department,"said Port Chester village Board of Trustees member Bart Didden. "Identifying and then removing these vermin off our streets and out of our neighborhoods must be job one and I believe that our Department is not only up to the challenge, but are doing the job and these latest arrests prove just that."

The effort between the Port Chester Police Department's Detective Bureau and the Narcotics Unit of the Westchester County Department of Public Safety was dubbed "Operation Clean Sweep" and led to 12 arrests over the past few days of on drug sale and possession charges. Among those arrested were seven Port Chester residents, a homeless man from Port Chester, a Yonkers man, a Mount Vernon man and two Connecticut residents ranging in age from 20 to 57.

Port Chester Police say more arrests are expected in the investigation.

"This is great work and I especially like the part where you expect more arrests to be made," Didden said in a message to Port Chester Police Chief Joseph Krzeminski. "Please express my thoughts of thanks and recognition to all the members of our department."

@ Margaret my husband is mexican. He is a very hard working mexican that pays taxes, and drinks in my household not on the streets. I know that there are many that hang out in the streets, and get drunk which is not good. But they are from all different countries. There are good, and bad in all races. That doesn't mean that it is ok to have drug dealers around just cause we have drunks around town. Code enforcement needs to shut down great american developement who rents to ten people in a room. That will solve half the problem.

It seems like everytime something huge happens in port chester, they need the assistance of another department, whether it be a k9 or narcotics unit. Why doesn't port chester have it's own? 12+ drug dealers in a 2 square mile village is not something pc should be proud of.

Concerned Homeowner- when you have a board that strips down the police department to 57 from a high of 66, specialized squads, ie k9,narcotics or any other, is not a option.

Where is ICE?
jah85 December 02, 2012 at 08:30 PM
That's the govt dept u need in pc? Illegal immigration is what destroyed pc. Period.
jah85 December 03, 2012 at 12:00 AM
Why don't they call in ICE, cut down on illegal immigration. That would hep!
Jack December 03, 2012 at 06:06 PM
Everyone comes from immigrants! So call ICE on your grandparents. More then half if not all the people arrested are us citizens. Find a solution stop pointing fingers. What they did wrong but don't blame a group if people for their actions.
jah85 December 03, 2012 at 10:16 PM
First of all Jack, my grandparents came here legally, the right way. They didnt hop fences or pay coyotes to bring them here . Secondly these people that they arrested are users more than dealers , there are 100's of these people in pc, and since pc is now 65% spanish, and the high school is 78% spanish ,you do the math.

I am a blkwomen from the side of town that some of. These guys r from. It has nothing to do with immigrants or ppls color or age. Its ppl who want easy money n not work hard like everyone else does.

I'm with EMS. Drugs is the easy way to make fast money and if you don't stay on top of it, it gets to be lucrative and brings bigger guns into the game...literally. There are plenty of good, honest and helpful people I know in PC who came from other countries - this is not an immigration problem - it's an enforcement problem !
