Burglars Steal Thousands in Merchandise from Grace Church St. Store

Police say the burglars got into the store through a rear window leading to a bathroom.

Police are looking for help in tracking down a burglar who lifted more than $2,000 in merchandise from a Grace Church Street deli.

The owners of Paisano Grocery at 72 Grace Church St. told police they'd locked up at 1 a.m. on Thursday and came back at 10:15 a.m. to open up when they noticed someone had broken into the store.

The burglar or burglars gained entry through a bathroom window in the rear of the store, Lt. James Ladeairous said. They stole $300 in cash, three gold men's rings worth a combined $1,000, about 40 Spanish-language music CDs worth a combined $600, and 12 bottles of cologne and perfume.

In all, the stolen merchandise is worth $2,260, the store owners told police.

Anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity in the area during the time of the burglary is asked to call the Port Chester Police Department at 914-939-1000. All calls will be kept confidential.

Correction: An earlier version of this story included an incorrect street address. The store is on Grace Church Street.
