Brakes Fail, Car Hits Steps of Port Chester Home

Parked car also hit on Neuton Street.

A car driven by a Port Chester resident slammed into a parked car and the front steps of a home after the vehicle’s brakes failed on Neuton Street, according to Port Chester police.

No one was injured, but the parked car, a Nissan, was hit hard enough that a wheel was knocked off the car.

Police said the accident took place about 1:42 a.m. on Thursday as a Port Chester man was driving a 2001 Volkswagen on Neuton Street. When the brakes failed, the Volkswagen hit the parked Nissan and then went onto the sidewalk, striking the front steps of 135 Neuton St.

No charges were filed in connection with the accident.
