Assault With a Deadly Febreeze Bottle

Two robbers used a spray bottle as a weapon in a weekend robbery at the Port Chester waterfront.

Gun? Too risky. Knife? Inelegant. Common household cleaner? Now there's a weapon.

Two robbers have taken their craft to new lows of laziness by avoiding all physical contact and using a spray bottle to incapacitate victims. A 28-year-old Port Chester man said he was standing by a bench along Port Chester's waterfront promenade on Saturday night when two men walked up to him, sprayed his eyes "with some type of chemical," and lifted his wallet and cell phone, Lt. James Ladeairous said.

The suspects in the robbery, which happened a few minutes after midnight, were both described as white males of similar height, about five feet, ten inches tall, according to the police report.
