Argument Over Washing Machine in Port Chester Leads to Arrest

Police: Laundromat customer push, eye glasses broken.

A dispute over a washing machine at a Port Chester laundromat led to the arrest of a Port Chester woman on charges she pushed another customer and broke her prescription sunglasses, according to Port Chester Police.

Police said a 46-year-old Port Chester woman complained that she was doing her laundry at 26 Putnam Ave. at about 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday when a woman approached her, asked her about the washing machine she was using and started an agrument over the machine.

The 46-year-old woman told police she was pushed by the other woman, hit her face in the incident and had her sunglasses broken. An investigation by village officers led to Marcela Olivera-Lopez, 25, of 135 Rectory St., Port Chester being charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief.

She was released pending a hearing in Port Chester Village Court. Police said the broken glasses were valued at $230.
