Amber Alert Cancelled In Search for 5-Year-Old Westchester Boy

Mount Vernon police probe abduction; investigation focused on the Bronx.

UPDATE (9:45 a.m.): The Amber Alert for Ranaldo Brown has been CANCELLED by Mount Vernon police.

Mount Vernon police say this morning they are investigating the abduction of a 5-year-old boy.

Police, who issued an Amber Alert overnight for Ranaldo Brown, said they are looking for a man who was last seen on foot, possibly heading for New York City. Ranadlo is about 3-foot-6, 50 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair, wearing blue shorts, a white shirt and red/black sneakers.

Being sought in connection with the abduction, police said, is Thomas Whaley.

Whaley is described as 49-years-old, 6-foot-tall, 180 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, wearing blue/white basketball shorts and a basketball jersey.

Police said Whaley frequents the Bronx and is known to use public transportation.  

Anyone with information on Ranaldo Brown or Thomas Whaley is asked to call (866)NYS-AMBER or dial 911 to provide information on a sighting.
