7-Year-Old Unemployment Fraud Charge Haunts Ex-Port Chester Woman

White Plains police arrest her on warrant from 2005 in connection with $6,885 theft.

A former Port Chester woman who was charged in 2005 with illegally obtaining $6,885 in unemployment benefits was arrested in White Plains on a warrant charging that she never showed up in court, according to Port Chester Police.

Brenda McCrae, 40, of 123 E. Post Road, White Plains, was arrested by White Plains Police, who notified Port Chester Police that McCrea was in custody. McCrae, while a Port Chester resident, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny in 2005.

Police said McCrae is accused of collecting unemployment benefits in 2003 and 2004 even though she was employed at a hospital.

McCrae was arraigned in Port Chester Village Court and she was released on $500 bail pending a Jan. 10 hearing.

No offense but this is the "tip" of the so called ice burg. I was reading where they had a woman in VA who collected over $300 K for a job she never showed up for over 12 years. Folks, the SYSTEM is broke and we still want to throw more money into it. Stand by over the next 2 years because EVERYONE is in for a rude financial awakening. THERE'S NO MORE MONEY; WHO DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THAT? I wonder how these parasites who bilk the government are going to live then? Help the people who need real help and severely punish those who cheat the system.

Just another example of a fractured government that cannot even control the most basic of social programs in a manner that doesn't insult ... over and over again ... the people who pay the freight. Government, on all levels, now assumes that taxpayers exist to fund increasingly abusive programs ... that they themselves refuse to even monitor. We are a mess ... and this woman is just one of thousands of poster children for a society gone haywire. Rip away personal responsibility and this is what surfaces ... only to be excused again and again.

Unemployment Benefits are not paid by the Govenement. They come from the employer!
