Explorer Post 700 has been officially nominated for the Fireman's Association of the State of NY (FASNY) 2013 Youth group of the year award.
The award is given to the youth group that exemplifies commitment to their volunteer fire department and also to their community. T
he group was nominated for their work with the Blythedale Children's Hospital, Port Chester Senior Center and Salvation Army. Mayor Dennis Pilla, Trustee Bart Didden, Trustee Luis Marino, Fire Chief Kevin McMinn, Past Fire Chief Charles Nielsen, and Director of the Senior center, Carol Nielsen all wrote letters of recomendation nominating the Post for this award.
The FASNY commitee meets in late March to pick the winner.
