Blogs: Sandy, Obama, Pink Floyd

A recap of recent and popular blog posts in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam.

Two major threads emerged in Patch blogs last week: the post-Sandy clean-up effort, and the post-election drama. (You didn't think the political frenzy would end after Election Day, did you?)

On the storm front, blogger Tina Traster shares her hurricane ordeal. From prepping for the tempest to huddling around the fire during its height to living in the dark afterward, her tale is one most residents can relate to—and are eager to forget.

Blogger Michael Bartolone is prepping for something a bit more intense—a trip to Haiti in Sandy's wake. He's currently wrestling with a tough question: "what does it mean to be expending so much effort on aid in a foreign county whe there is so much immediate need here?"

For those that want to debate the cause of Sandy, jump in with blogger Bob Dumont. He tackles the ever-polemic topic of global warming: "it's just nonsense–or is it?" he asks.

Obama may be sitting square in the Oval Office come next year, but Election Day hubbub hasn't tapered off. Rockland blogger Joseph Coe sounds off on inequality at the polls, shining the spotlight on some demographics who were turned away from their voting stations last Tuesday.

If your seeking levity—and want to tune out the storm's tragedy and election's din—check in with Bob Levine, who explores what it's like to helm a Pink Floyd cover band.

Come on Tom, the MSM has already told us just how wonderfully well Obama handled the disaster. You know just show up, cry a bit, tell the people what they want to hear and then move on.
