Xavier 'Sam' D'Estrada of Port Chester Dies at Age 75

He was retired owner of Sam's American Limousine Service.

Xavier "Sam" D'Estrada of Port Chester, a retired business owner, has died at age 75.

He was born on Dec. 3, 1937, in Camaguey, Cuba. Mr. D'Estrada move in 1956 to the United States, where he met his wife, Laura Varamo. They were married on June 28, 1959, and lived in Port Chester.

He started his own business, Sam's American Limousine Service, and retired in 2006.

Mr. D'Estrada is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Laura D'Estrada, his three children, Artie D'Estrada and wife Anna, Diana D'Estrada DeCarlo and husband Jimmy, Maria D'Estrada and his grandchildren Michael and Lisa. He is also survived by his brother Adolfo and sister Mercedes in Havana and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. D'Estrada was predeceased by his father and mother Aurelio and Incarnacion D'Estrada.

Mr. D'Estrada was greatly enjoyed family gatherings, and known for his wine making, fishing and gardening.

Calling hours are  2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today, Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Craft Memorial Home Inc., 40 Leicester St., Port Chester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Our Lady of Mercy Church 260 Westchester Ave., Port Chester. Entombment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery Rye Brook, NY.

Memorial donations in memory of Mr. D'Estrada may be made to the charity of one's choice.
