Port Chester residents on Tuesday paid their respects to Port Chester village Board of Trustees member John A. Branca, a former Port Chester mayor, who died at his home on Sunday, March 24, 2013.
Visiting hours were Tuesday evening Gunipero Farenga Funeral Home, Port Chester. A Mass of Christian Burial is set for Wednesday at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Port Chester, with interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook.
He was the husband of Linda and father of John S. and Gene (Lisa) Branca, and the grandfather of Gene Michael, Valerie and Paige Branca. He is survived by his sister Ann (Bob) Allison and was predeceased by his brother Ralph Branca.
He was born in Port Chester to Salvatore and Caroline Branca. He married his childhood sweetheart Linda. A verteran of the Army, her served from 1969 to 1971.

Mr. Branca worked as a Program Director for IBM for more than 25 years.
He was elected village trustee in Port Chester in 1983 and served until 1992. In 1993, he was elected mayor of Port Chester and served until 1995. He was re-elected trustee in 2010.

Mr. Branca was a member of the Elks, the American Legion and served as an usher in church. He will always be remembered as a dedicated, loving family man.
