Obituary: Port Chester Trustee John A. Branca

He served as mayor from 1993 to 1995.

Port Chester village Board of Trustees member John A. Branca, a former Port Chester mayor, died at his home on Sunday, March 24, 2013.

He was the husband of Linda and father of John S. and Gene (Lisa) Branca, and the grandfather of Gene Michael, Valerie and Paige Branca. He is survived by his sister Ann (Bob) Allison and was predeceased by his brother Ralph Branca.

He was born in Port Chester to Salvatore and Caroline Branca. He married his childhood sweetheart Linda. A verteran of the Army, her served from 1969 to 1971.

Mr. Branca worked as a Program Director for IBM for more than 25 years.

He was elected village trustee in Port Chester in 1983 and served until 1992. In 1993, he was elected mayor of Port Chester and served until 1995. He was re-elected trustee in 2010.

Mr. Branca was a member of the Elks, the American Legion and served as an usher in church. He will always be remembered as a dedicated, loving family man.

Visiting hours at Gunipero Farenga Funeral Home, Port Chester, are set for Tuesday, March 26, from 4 - 9 p.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial is set for Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Port Chester, on Wednesday, March 27. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook.
