A funeral for Gerard "Jerry" "J.D." DiRoberto of Port Chester, a former restaurant owner and former village Board of Trustees member in Port Chester, is set for Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Our Lady of Mercy Church at 10 a.m.
Mr. DiRoberto died on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at age 82.
The longtime Port Chester resident was born March 30, 1930. He was known for his business, J. DiRoberto's House of Fine Foods on Willett Avenue in Port Chester. In addition to his service on the Board of Trustees, Mr. DiRoberto was also past Exalted Ruler of the Elks and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. DiRoberto was predeceased by his wife, Rose Robbins DiRoberto. He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Sam-deceased) Caldwell, Gerri (Don) Gates, Annie (Chuck) Mischo; grandchildren, Michael, Brian (Kristin), Spencer, Chris and Lizzy; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Owen & Rose; four step-children, Barbara (Joe) Baltz, Richard (Carole) Robbins, Gale (Tom) Nardi, Steven (April-main caregiver) Robbins and their children, Wendy (Joey), Brian, Dennis (Jenny), Lisa, Shannon, Krystle, Randy, Kimberly and Samantha.
Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Rye Brook will follow the funeral at Our Lady of Mercy Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Mr. DiRoberto's memory.
