Obituary: Constance Smith, former Port Chester Resident

Former United Hospital nurse dies at age 67.

Constance Ilene Smith of Stamford, CT, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Smith House in Stamford after a brief illness. She was 67.

Connie was born on Sept. 22, 1946 in Riddlesburg, PA, the daughter of the late David and Velma Carnell Smith and had lived in Port Chester for many years before moving to Stamford.

She was a nurse for 20 years at United Hospital in Port Chester and then worked for many years as a home health aide.

Connie was devoted to her loving family and will be sadly missed by her son Thomas E. Smith and his children Thomas J., Jessica A., and Justin T. Smith, all of Norwalk, CT, her sister Rebecca Barker of Carmel, NY, her brother John Smith of Baltimore, MD, nieces Rhonda and Lori, and her longtime companion Philip DiCostanzo. Connie was also predeceased by her sister Karen Smith and her daughter-in-law Cheryl Koenig Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 15, at noon at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk, CT. Her family will receive friends from 11 a.m. Monday until services begin.
