Edward Robert Plant of Port Chester, Entrepreneur, Dies at Age 89

He owned and operated Eddy Moving and Storage and Eddy Messenger Service.

Edward Robert Plant, 89, a resident of Port Chester died April 17, 2013.

He was born Sept. 7, 1923, in Port Chester to the late Edward and Madelon Haviland Plant. He was raised and educated in Port Chester, graduating from Port Chester High School in 1941 and attending Admiral Billard Academy of New London, CT.

Mr. Plant served in the Merchant Marines. He was married June 1, 1946, to Virginia Armstrong.

Mr. Plant was an entrepreneur having owned and operated Eddy Moving and Storage & Eddy Messenger Service. He was a member of the 40/40 Club.

Mr. Plant is survived by his wife Virginia Armstrong Plant of 66 years; his children Jane Plant, Joan Blanchard, Doug Plant, Robert Plant and Judy Plant; grandchildren Amy and Scott Blanchard, Chris, Dana, Jessica and Miles Plant, Kara, Brie and Marlon Thompson, Benjamin, Colin and Rachel Plant; and, sister Janet Bova Plant.

A memorial service followed by a luncheon will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday April 20, 2013, at the Coveleigh Club, 459 Stuyvesant Ave., Rye. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital www.mskcc.org/giving
