Hudson Valley Greenway Seeks Grant Proposals

Most Westchester communities are part of the Greenway Conservancy.

A total of $50,000 is available for matching grants from the Hudson River Valley Greenway Conservancy.

The Hudson River Valley Greenway area runs from Battery Park in Manhattan into Saratoga and Washington counties. The Greenway Conservancy's small grant program offers funding for trail planning and design, construction and rehabilitation, and education and interpretation.

The Greenway area includes both riverfront communities and those "countryside" communities without direct access to the Hudson in Putnam, Westchester and Rockland counties.

For the grant applications, emphasis is placed on trail projects that seek to implement the goals of the Greenway Trail Vision Plan, fill in identified gaps in the Greenway Trail System, and make improvements to designated Greenway Trails.

Applications are available on the Greenway website.  All applications must be postmarked by 5 p.m., Sept. 13.
