Caritas Of Port Chester, Inc. Announces Caritas PC Pantry Partners

New food drive program to address growing need

Caritas of Port Chester, Inc. launched a new program on November 1, Caritas PC Pantry Partners, to collaborate with houses of worship, schools, community organizations and businesses in Rye, Rye Brook, Port Chester and Greenwich, Conn. to increase the amount of food available to distribute through its Food Pantry. In the coming winter months, the number of families seeking supplemental food is expected to grow from 550 per month to 900.

Caritas of Port Chester, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization, is an outgrowth of the Social Outreach Services of Holy Rosary Church in Port Chester. It operates a food pantry, soup kitchen, clothing distribution site, ESL classes and emergency services for those requiring assistance in the community.

This latest program seeks partners to sponsor one-time or monthly food drives to support the Food Pantry, which provides poor and low-income families with supplemental groceries to make daily meals for themselves and their children. Food is distributed to disadvantaged families and elderly two days a week. Emergency food is available six days a week.
