Letter to the Editor: In Support of David Gelfarb

Voters should re-elect David Gelfarb to the Westchester County Legislature.  As his long record of public service demonstrates, County Legislator Gelfarb is an intelligent, honest, independent-minded, hardworking representative of the people who is committed to the objectives of improving government services, delivering those services more efficiently and reducing taxes.

During his two years as a County Legislator, Mr. Gelfarb has helped to keep the County's property tax levy flat.  As an active member of the County Legislature, he has also helped to pass laws banning the use of fracking waste on our roads, establishing an animal abuse registry, and approving inter-municipal agreements between the County and other municipalities that enhance the operations of public safety departments at lower costs to taxpayers.  He is also working to upgrade and modernize Rye Playland to bring it into the twenty-first century.

Before he was elected to the County Legislature, David served as a member of the Rye Town Council for four years.  During that time, the Rye Town Council reduced the Town's overall expenditures and reduced taxes every year, while increasing the Town's fund balance.

David has consistently gone beyond the call of duty in working for Westchester County and its residents.  He is an active member of the County Legislature's Public Safety and Security Committee, its Legislation Committee and its Environment and Energy Committee, and he serves as the County Legislature's representative on the Airport Advisory Board.  While a member of the Rye Town Council, he devoted numerous hours of his own time to rewriting the Town's personnel manual and employee handbook, at no cost to the Town or its taxpayers.

Westchester County needs an experienced legislator like David Gelfarb.  That is why this longtime Democrat will be voting to re-elect David Gelfarb on November 5.
