What Should Power Companies Do Differently Next Time?

Readers who lost power have complained of vague timetables on repairs and difficulty reaching power companies.

Although Hurricane Irene became Tropical Storm Irene and didn't live up to the breathless hype that preceded it, hundreds of thousands of families in the area spent at least one night in the dark.

As the lights come back on for most people and a few dozen homes remain without power, locals haven't been shy about offering their praise -- and their criticism -- concerning the emergency response.

For many, that meant reaching for their smartphones and venting their anger on social networks and Port Chester's mayor will meet with emergency managers to improve responses in future storms.
