Tamarack Turkey Trot Returns on Thanksgiving

The annual Thanksgiving walk/run raises money for Port Chester schools.

Before football, food and festivities, consider starting your Thanksgiving by raising money for Port Chester schools this year.

The Tamarack Tower Foundation's annual Turkey Trot is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. at Port Chester High School. Participants will meet at the flag pole near the athletic field.

Last year, some 130 neighbors and friends showed up for the fund-raiser, while JFK Magnet School kids held their own mini-trot the day before. Participants can choose between a 3.5-mile run or a 1.7-mile walk, and prizes are awarded based on a range of non-competitive categories.

The Tamarack Tower Foundation is a non-profit that focuses its efforts on supporting students and programs in Port Chester schools. Tamarack was instrumental in bringing anti-bullying assembly to the district, and awards graduating seniors each year, among other efforts.

Participants can register ahead of the event, or the day-of by showing up between 8:30 and 9:15 p.m. Registration is $20 for adults and $10 for students for those who sign up before Nov. 21; late registration is $25 and $15, respectively.
