Sewer Pipe Burst Puts Jefferson Avenue Bridge Repairs Over Budget

This is a summary of updates from the June 18 Town Board meeting that Rye Town volunteer media coordinator Dick Hubert has submitted to the media.

Highway Superintendent John DeCrescenzo reported that the repairs to the Jefferson Avenue Bridge were halted briefly after workers severed a sewer pipe they didn’t know was there because it was not on any maps. The incident may cause the project to cost more than the $100,000 originally budgeted, but the additional funds needed were in the bonded money for the repairs.
