School Calendar Highlights: A Workshop for Families, Night of Music and Walk-a-Thon This Week

Get out your day planners for goings-on in the Port Chester School District.

Starting off with a workshop for families and ending with an evening of contemporary tunes and fundraiser, this week promises to be a busy one for the Port Chester School District.

Today, March 29

Family University Workshop at Port Chester Middle School, 6-9pm

Sponsored by the Port Chester Cares Community Coalition, students in grades 6-12 along with their moms and dads are invited to partake in workshops relating to issues faced by teens today. Together they will learn about dealing with issues like alcohol and substance abuse, ways to improve physical health and wellness, and more. Registration is suggested.

Board of Education meeting at Port Chester Middle School, 7:30 p.m.

Board members are expected to further refine the 2011-2012 budget with discussion and feedback from taxpayers.

Friday, April 1

An Evening of Indoor Pageantry at Port Chester Middle School, 7 p.m.

The district will showcase the power of music at its 5th annual Evening of Indoor Pageantry tonight. While the Junior Varsity Winterguard is prepared to dazzle audiences with an instrumental rendition of the Jason Mraz tune, “I’m Yours,” the Varsity Winterguard will perform the popular tune, “An Empire State of Mind,” by Jay-Z for friends and family.

Saturday, April 2

John F. Kennedy Magnet School/ELC Walk-a-Thon, 9am

With more than 600 registered walkers for the event, parents, students and teachers will show their support for the school. Money raised in pledges goes into the JFK teacher fund, which helps fuel student activities and field trips. A DJ will spin tunes and food and beverages will be provided.
