Police: PC Drunk Driver Takes Down Utility Pole

A 25-year-old Port Chester man allegedly knocked down a utility pole while driving under the influence of alcohol, according to Port Chester Police Capt. John Telesca. The man told police he was driving from Port Chester train station, saw the telephone pole in the street near Putnam Avenue and Putnam Drive, had to swerve to avoid hitting it and crashed, but police believe he hit the pole, Telesca said. He was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.
