Join the PCFD and Donate Blood Today

Port Chester firefighters team up with the Red Cross of Westchester County today for a blood drive at the South End firehouse.

The Red Cross always needs blood donors, but summer is a particularly tough time for blood banks.

Two weeks ago, the local chapter put this plea to donors on its blog:

"Okay—we need you.  We really need you.  Community blood supply of all types is getting pretty low ..."

And although local reserves haven't hit the critically low points Red Cross chapters are seeing elsewhere, hundreds of headlines warn of low blood supplies across the nation in late summer.

Today, the Red Cross and the Port Chester Fire Department are making it convenient for Port Chester residents to donate by holding a blood drive here in town.

Blood donors can stop by the South End firehouse between 2 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to help support the Red Cross and the organization's emergency efforts in the local area.
