Driver Charged with Aggravated DWI After Alleged Hit and Run

A 32-year-old Port Chester man was arrested after he allegedly drunkenly hit a car with his vehicle, fled the scene and then admitted to police what he had done, according to Port Chester Police Lt. James Ladeairous. A witness told police she saw a small gray car with Connecticut plates drive away from a hit and run accident on Poningo Street and Irving Avenue on June 9 at 6 p.m. Police found a car that fit the description driven by Arturo Acencio-Martinez, who allegedly had alcohol on his breath and glassy eyes. Acencio-Martinez was arrested and submitted to a blood alcohol test that determined his BAC was more than two times above the legal limit of .08, police said.

He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated DWI, both misdemeanors and Unlicensed Operation of a Vehicle and Leaving the Scene of an accident, both violations.
