Dog Park Group Launches Fundraising Campaign

The Port Chester Dog Park group has all the approvals and needed support in place to open a dog park at Abendroth Park. Now they just need the funding to build the fenced in space.

They explain it on their website: “All we really need to open the gates for our dogs to be able to run and play… are THE GATES!”

The approximately 1,500 feet of fencing they need will not be cheap, so the group has started an enthusiastic fundraising campaign through Crowdtilt this week to raise the needed $56,375 to build the dog park. So far they have raised $100 and the campaign ends on Aug. 13.

They have also partnered with the non-profit Friends of Westchester Parks to accept tax-deductible donations for the development of our dog park.

The group hopes to raise the needed funds in the next six months and start building in the spring, according to their website.

On May 6, 2013 the Port Chester Board of Trustees approved the upper portion of Abendroth Park, off Tauraine Avenue, as a location for the park but said the group would have to provide their own funding.

We have launched a Crowdtilt fundraising campaign!!!  Crowdtilt is an online fundraising website that tracks progress against goals and makes it easy to share with friends, family, and co-workers! The campaign only runs for 28 days so it’s important to get the word out quickly.  Click here to launch the Crowdtilt page!

With the Crowdtilt launch we are also introducing incentives for different donation levels. The donation levels and incentives are detailed on the Crowdtilt page. These levels and incentives will expire when the Crowdtilt campaign expires on August 13th.

Many people have asked when is the Port Chester Dog Park opening?  All we really need to open the gates for our dogs to be able to run and play… are THE GATES!  We are estimating needing approximately 1500 feet of fencing and gates to fully enclose the area.  This will include three separate fenced in sections:

·       Small Dog Area

·       Large and Friendly Dog Area

·       Dogs in Training Area (for those pups that need to learn how to play well with others)

The Port Chester Dog Park will open as soon as we can raise enough funds and get the fencing and other amenities installed.  We are hoping to raise the necessary funds in the next 6 months, but this will really depend on whether people like you will support and fundraise for this project.

Please donate via Crowdtilt or our Donate Now link on this website.

Thank you for your support!
