Dead Fans Dig Stella Blues Band At Garcia's

Flocks of Deadheads have made their way to Garcia's at The Capitol Theatre every Wednesday night this month to hear local Grateful Dead cover band Stella Blues Band play their favorite songs.

The die hard fans take breaks from twirling and dancing to sneak peaks at Stella's set list sitting on the front of the stage while they play.

"If they have the name Garcia on the front door I'll be here," said a fan who had been to every Stella show this month during their set break this Wednesday. The band played their first ever acoustic set before plugging in for the second set which went on until around 1 a.m.

The Stella Blues Band, local musicians from around the New York and Connecticut area, has been the first band in residency at Garcia's, playing every Wednesday night of the month of June.

Next month Garcia's will host the Blue Roadhouse Orchestra (BRO) every Wednesday.

BRO describes itself on its Facebook as:

BRO is a coalition of like minded jam bandits who make great music at a wide variety of events, in a wide variety of genres. Membership goes a few dozen deep, and ensembles come together based on busy schedules and performance/venue requirements.

Tickets are $7. Shows start at 9 pm. Visit thecapitoltheatre.com for more information.
