Corrections and Clarifications

A summary of corrections and clarifications in the Port Chester Patch.

We take transparency seriously. We're committed to accuracy, to acknowledging our mistakes, and to fixing them as quickly as possible. Corrections are marked with an asterisk (*) in stories where errors have been fixed, accompanied by an editor's note in italics at the bottom of the story.

We do our best to get the facts right, but sometimes even Homer nods. If you see a factual error, tell us about it and we'll make sure we get it right.

Here are our recent mistakes:

- Correction: A story from Aug. 13, "Judge: Trustees Who Gave Themselves Benefits are on Shaky Legal Ground," incorrectly stated the year Port Chester trustees passed a resolution granting lifetime health benefits. The article has been changed to include the correct date (1988), and we've added a note to alert readers of the correction.

- Clarification: A video summary from Aug. 17, "Congregation: We Worry About Our Community," included language and a quote that suggested members of Segunda Islesia Pentecostal Church previously appealed to the board of trustees for construction permits. They haven't. The church did appear before the zoning and planning boards, and the text accompanying the video has been changed to remove ambiguity. We've added a note to alert readers of the correction.

- Correction: A column on July 19, "Teenagers and Toddlers Are Trying to Kill Me," was posted to the live site at 6 a.m. with an incorrect byline. We caught the error about a half hour later and corrected the article to properly credit columnist Susan Konig.

-Correction: In an article posted on Sept. 1, titled "In Their Own Words: Bill Reed vs. George Latimer On Top 3 Priorities," under the sub-heading, 'Ethics,' it incorrectly stated that George Latimer supported ethics reform involving the legislative branch policing the executive. His position has been corrected and is correctly stated as being in support of an independent agency policing both executive and legislative branches.
