Six-Month Liquor Suspension Is Imposed on Importer That Supplies Wine to Port Chester's Tarry Lodge

The New York State Liquor Authority has imposed a $500,000 penalty and a six-month license suspension on the wine importing firm that supplies wine to the Tarry Lodge in Port Chester. The reaching of a settlement on March 25, 2014 was reported by eater.com, a restaurant-industry news website.

The authority said the importer, Eataly NY LLC, had "interlocking interests" with a group of restaurants including Tarry Lodge, owned by Mario Batali, Joseph Bastianich and additional partners. It also called for the closing of a retail wine operation inside Eataly (a Batali and Bastianich dining destination in New York City) for six months and the removal of the famous chef Lidia Bastianich (Joseph's mother) as a principal of the wine company. Lidia and Joseph Bastianich also own a winery in Friuli, Italy.

Batali and Joseph Bastianich opened Tarry Lodge in Port Chester in October, 2008 along with partners Nancy Selzer and chef Andy Nusser, a Westchester County, Hastings-on-Hudson resident and a former chef at Manhattan's famed Babbo.

Tarry Lodge is located at 18 Mill St, Port Chester, NY, (914) 939-3111, www.tarrylodge.com
