Come Laugh with Me

Every time I get in the car, I remember that one night, that one ride, and I just start laughing...

I started my blog about 3 years ago.  I don’t remember why.  Probably because our kids were really funny and I was getting tired of repeating the funny stories two or three times to family members.  I decided that it would be easier to tell my family “go read about it online”.  Over the years I’ve written down some pretty funny things – things that my kids will not want to remember when they are teenagers.  Oh well.  That’s life.  Lately I’ve slacked a little in the blog department.  It became a lot easier to just post the funny stuff on Facebook.  But then my daughter told me she checked the blog and I had not written anything in awhile.

So, about me.  I was born and raised in Port Chester.  I am a proud PCHS graduate (class of '91).  My kids go to Park Avenue.  I’m on the PTO board, a Girl Scout leader and I teach CCD.  I’m a pediatric triage nurse.  You know what that means?  It means I am around kids ALL THE TIME.  Well except for 45 minutes in the morning when I’m in the bathroom and the rest of my family is still asleep.  We all know kids are funny.  My kids are really funny.  In fact, living with Francesca and Gavin is like having 2 mini comedians doing open-mic night 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  They are funny even when they aren’t trying to be.

Here’s an example – we were all in the car one night, driving somewhere in town.  My son, as he is well known to do, passed gas and then started to giggle.  You always know when Gav lets one rip because you hear a giggle coming from wherever he is.  All of a sudden, my daughter starts coughing and sputtering.  She looks at her brother and yells

GAVIN, when I breathe, I breathe in the air you tooted in and it stings my tongue.

Oh my.  Scott and I started laughing so hard Scott almost hit a parked car as we were driving down King Street.  Gavin just smirked and Francesca continued to cough and gasp for air.  We did not even know how to respond…so we just opened the windows and told Francesca to breathe in the fresh air.  Gavin sat there with a smug look on his face, and the realization that he had just found another way to annoy his sister.
