On a Wing and a Prayer

The Immigration Law Offices of Cynthia R. Exner, LLC proudly sponsors the local dog and puppy rescue organization known as Tails of Courage, which just met its first air transport of puppies at Reliant Air Terminal, Danbury Airport on Sunday, October 27, 2013.  The following is the story of one of the puppies on that air transport, in her own words:

Some folks say that they barely escape danger on “a wing and a prayer”, because they feel that only prayer and the wings of an angel could have saved them.

My name is “Miss Piggy”.  I am a 15 week old female Dogo Argentino mix peeking out of one of the crates in this photo.  I was born in South Carolina.  My mama got pregnant and her owners didn’t want puppies.  Her owner never paid to have my mama spayed.  My brothers and sisters were taken by kind friends, but no one wanted me, so I was “put out” to perish in the wilderness.

Tails of Courage has volunteers, members and followers from all over the world, who are constantly praying and actively working to save little helpless ones like me.

Their prayers were answered when I was found wandering around, hungry and scared, by kind rescue workers.  The local shelter couldn’t take me because they are a small shelter and they were filled to capacity.  I was placed on the euthanasia list, solely because of lack of space.  But, at the last moment, a call was made to Tails of Courage.  Tails of Courage paid for me to be vetted and spayed, and arranged for me to be housed with a foster family in South Carolina.

When I was well enough to travel, I started my journey up to Connecticut.  I was very scared.  A pilot named Steve Hall, from New York, generously donated his time, and the use of his own private airplane, to fly me up to Tails of Courage, along with 7 other puppies.  He loaded us into crates, packed the crates into his Cirrus aircraft and flew us the long flight up to Connecticut, arriving at Reliant Air Terminal at Danbury Airport shortly after noon on Sunday, October 27, 2013.  Pictured in this photo with me is Pilot Steve Hall in front of his aircraft, President of Tails of Courage Kristan Exner and 2 year daughter old Peyton Exner.  This is the very first puppy rescue to arrive by airplane transport to Tails of Courage, and it was a very special occasion for everyone involved in my rescue!

I am now available for adoption at Tails of Courage, One Pembroke Road, Danbury, CT every day, 7 days per week, between the hours of 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM or by appointment.  You can take a look at me on the website at www.tailsofcourage.org

Tails of Courage is also holding the very first Adoption Event at the Danbury Petco, 5 Sugar Hollow Road, Danbury, CT located right next to the Danbury Airport, on Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM.  Please come out and support this wonderful rescue organization, and tell your friends to consider adopting me, or one of the 35+ dogs and puppies currently at the TOC kennel.

One day I was struggling to survive and placed on the euthanasia list.  Because of the prayers of many people associated with Tails of Courage and the wings of wonderful, selfless pilots like Steve Hall, I am now being fed and playing with other dogs as I await my forever family.

So, the next time that someone tells you how they barely survived on “a wing and a prayer”, please tell them my story.
