The has named South Salem resident Brittany Oat Serra as its director of communications.
“Brittany has both the knowledge and experience to help create new opportunities for businesses in Westchester, and she also brings with her an energy and enthusiasm that is reflective of our members and the Westchester business community,” said Dr. Marsha Gordon, president and CEO of the Business Council of Westchester. “She is looking forward to developing an innovative communications and social media strategy for the Business Council, which will ultimately enhance member experience."
A social media expert and public relations strategist, Serra has developed and executed winning marketing strategies for both large and small brands, according to the council. Serra is known for her unique ability to integrate the latest technology into cohesive and successful campaigns with measurable results. In addition, Serra has created edgy viral video campaigns— shooting, editing and scripting the videos herself — to compliment larger marketing programs.
“I have a genuine passion for using social media marketing strategies to help businesses of all sizes get real results,” Serra said. “I’m constantly coming up with innovative ideas that push the barriers of this ever-changing industry. However, I strongly believe that there must be a reason behind every tactic used. It is with that philosophy in mind that I will craft the communications strategy for the Business Council.”
Prior to her move to public relations, Serra worked as TV news reporter for both WPTZ/WNNE in White River Junction, VT, and News 12 in Brooklyn.
Serrra has lived in Westchester County for the past 5 years and currently resides in South Salem, where she is a board member of The Two Lake Club.
Serra graduated from Boston University’s College of Communications with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism. She was the recipient on the college’s annual Blue Chip Award for excellence in leadership, academics and involvement in school and professional activities. In addition,she was the 2007 winner of the Fox New Channel College Challenge for a news story on eminent domain.
