line up of acts for its re-opening season has expanded with the Trey Anastasio Band, Sleigh Bells and Blondie.
The theatre, which is located in downtown Port Chester, is set to re-open after a mulit-million renovation on Sept. 4 with a performance by and his band.
"I'm very pleased with the diversity of talent that we have been able to put together for the opening lineup," says The Bowery Presents' Anthony Makes, who is booking the theatre in partnership with Peter Shapiro. "That was our goal from the beginning. To bring the best artists who attract audiences from all different backgrounds and ages in the community. I believe we have achieved that to this point."
Designed by architect Thomas Lamb in 1926 and listed in The National Register of Historic Places, The Capitol Theatre was long a popular music venue but had fallen on hard times. With backing from the Port Chester Industrial Development Agency, the theater has been undergoing a major renovation and an update of its sound system.

Intrigued by Sleigh Bells, especially since it will be cheaper, and am definitely tempted to get the Fiona Apple tickets. Yes, this theatre is going to make me go broke! I'll be poor and happy though!
My BIG concern now is the apparent spike in crime that is being reported in the Port Chester Patch. Port Chester has a good Police Department and I understand that they can't be everywhere. However, if this village is attempting to make a "COME BACK" from the dead and using things like the Marina and the Capital Theater to do so maybe we: 1. Need MORE Police on the streets 2. A shift in Patrol Tactics 3. A beefed up Anti-Crime Unit 4. More Police leadership on the streets Any elected officials reading this? I'd like to hear your comments please.
