Port Chester Native Amid Capeci Passes Away

Capeci was an art director for Rolling Stone and Newsweek, and is the son of long-time BoE member Anne Capeci.

Port Chester native Amid Capeci passed away Tuesday night after a battle with cancer.

Capeci, 50, was an art director for Rolling Stone, Newsweek and Entertainment Weekly. He was the son of Anne Capeci, a long-time member of Port Chester's Board of Education.

Capeci was "comfortable and surrounded by family" when he died Tuesday night, his wife Amy wrote to friends in an online message.

"He has been very weak these past few days in the hospital," Amy Capeci wrote. "But he let us know with a few words or a nod or a name that he was listening and could feel the love of all the people who were important to him."

Friends and colleagues left rememberances Wednesday on an industry website for designers.

"Amid had the power to light up a room with one simple smile," one colleague wrote.

A wake is planned for Friday night at in Port Chester.
