Park Avenue Talent Show: Channel Your Inner Celebrity

More than 80 students performed Thursday night at Park Avenue School's annual talent show.

Michael Jackson, watch out: there’s a pint-sized four-some perfecting your moonwalk, and they’re barely tall enough to reach the kitchen table.

But with talent sometimes comes a bit of stage fright. So when Angela Reyes, Nina Reyes, Katherine Torres and Jasmine Torres took on the the moves of the late King of Pop by grooving to a mix of classic tunes like Billy Jean, it was no surprise there were a few cold feet in the room.

“We were afraid to go on before we performed, but we ended up being brave,” said Reyes.

At Park Avenue School’s Annual Talent Show last night, more than 80 students took the stage to emulate their favorite stars—and impressed friends and family with their high notes and jazzy dance routines along the way.

The youngsters were able to choose their own songs, choreography and costumes for the occasion before they got up on stage in front of hundreds of audience-goers.

Francesca Ladore and Samantha Fiorino accessorized Miley Cyrus’ tune, ‘Party in the USA’ with huge American flags, for example, while Reyes and her friends sported fedoras and bedazzled t-shirts to add some flair to Jackson’s Thriller and other rock jams.

The only item missing to complete the ensemble? That signature white sequined glove.

“We tried to find the glittery glove [that Jackson wears] but we couldn’t,” added Reyes.

By the end of the show, kids had completed their flawless routines and were already thinking about the future: how to top their performances next time around, said Park Avenue PTO Co-President, Jeannine Tempesta.

“They’re already talking about what they’re going to do next year—they can’t wait,” she said of her daughter Natalie and her friends.
