"Man Men" Meets "Taming of the Shrew" in Rye This Week

Though "Mad Men" likely won't be back on until next spring, you can catch some "Mad Men"-esque drama in Port Chester this weekend.

Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" is set to be performed Thursday and Friday at Lyon Park at 5:45 p.m.

The show isn't what you expect, though – the play is set in the early 1960s of AMC's "Mad Men" and will feature a 60s-style trivia game show at intermission when audience members can win prizes, according to the Patch event page.

Mat Young is directing the play and Peter Green and Carin Zakes, co-founders of Port Chester's LawnChair Theatre, are producing it. Rye High School senior Alex Hufford is the stage manager, and music was composed and recorded by Keith Levinson.

Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Bring your own lawn chair or blankets for seating. Parking is $5 after 4 p.m., or $4 for permit parking. Light refreshments will be for sale, according to the Patch event page.
