SECONDS SALE!
Saturday, June 2, 2012
11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Fabulous finds!
Piles of pots at bargain prices!
Free admission and family-friendly fun!
AND an exhibition opening reception in our Gallery!

Bring home pieces of pottery purchased at greatly reduced prices as we clear out our inventory to make room for new work at Seconds Sale. Artists from all over the tri-state area have donated their irregular,  overstocked or outdated pieces of artwork to CAC; bowls, cups, mugs, handmade tiles, serving pieces, teapots, sculpture and more will all need to find new homes.

This year's event will coincide with the opening reception in our gallery forTakings, a new interactive clay and mixed media installation of work by New York clay artist Gail Heidel that promotes an emergent system that self-organizes communities while critiquing the use of eminent domain. The reception will be held on June 2 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. while Seconds Sales activities are going. The exhibit will run June 2 - July 6, 2012.

Throughout the afternoon, we will have family-friendly food and activities including face painting, tile painting, hands-on clay, live music and more.  We will showcase student work from our youth and outreach classes.  Families can learn about and register for our twenty-three summer camps.

All proceeds from this event will go directly into the Audrey Greenwald Memorial Fund dedicated to updating and upgrading equipment at the Clay Art Center.  Audrey was an integral part of the Clay Art Center for decades.  An architect by profession, she cared deeply about the facility and creating efficient spaces filled with the equipment and tools ceramic artists of all ages needed to create their work.
Families and pottery lovers from near and far are welcome. Activities will be held rain or shine at Clay Art Center, 40 Beech Street, Port Chester, NY  10573.

Linda T., I would guess Mrs. Brakewood lives in Port Chester if she is running for the Port ChesterRead More Board of Ed. Even if the schools had to impose an austerity budget, your taxes would still go up. The state has more control in these matters than you think.

Linda, the per pupil expenditure in PC schools is the lowest in Westchester and Rockland countiesRead More ... by about $2,000 per student. The issue is two fold. First, our property values are not as strong as our neighbors, so our homes have a higher levy in order to fund the schools. Second, and more important, is that the reliance on property taxes slams moderate income communities like PC. We need for the state to move to an income tax to fund schools. Scream at your legislators ... not the BoE.

I am concerned there is not enough attention to detail in the BOE budget overall and Mrs. BrakewoodRead More comment about keeping taxes affordable ... where does she live ? they are out of control and in my opinion the money we pay for taxes we should have the best looking schools anywhere ... just my opinion
