Duncan Sheik Coming to Capitol Theatre in Port Chester in June

The musical adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' "American Psycho," for which Duncan Sheik wrote the music and lyrics, recently sold out five weeks worth of shows in London.

The following announcement is from Duncan Sheik representatives Sacks & Co:

Grammy and Tony award winning musician Duncan Sheik has confirmed a select number of East Coast tour dates. He will be performing from his extensive catalogue including songs from his back catalogue as well as this latest theatre works, Spring Awakening and American Psycho. In 2013-2014 Sheik spent time at Sneaky Studios in Garrison, NY recording his first album of orginal material (not related to a theatre production) since 2006’s White Limousine. The album is due out early 2015.

In addition to his new album, Sheik has kept busy with composing music and lyrics for a musical adaption of Bret Easton Ellis’ classic American Psycho. The musical debuted at the Almeida Theatre in London in December to a sold out, five week run. Launching his musical career in 1996 with his self-titled debut, Sheik quickly earned a Grammy nomination for “Best Male Vocal” for his hit “Barely Breathing,” which spent 55 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. He subsequently garnered critical accolades for his unique brand of folk-pop music with 2006’s White Limousine and his 2-CD collection of songs titled Brighter/Later: A Duncan Sheik Anthology. Sheiks most recent releases were the collaborative sister albums Covers 80s and Covers 80s Remixed, where he reinterpreted the stand-alone pop songs from his teen years along with the synth-pop era’s classic and obscure songs.

In addition, Sheik composed the original score and collaborated with lyricist Steven Sater for 2007’s Spring Awakening, which went on to win eight Tony awards. Sheik alone earned two awards for “Best Orchestration” and “Best Original Score” as well as a Grammy award for “Best Musical Show Album.” He followed with the musical theater production Whisper House, which was directed by Peter Askin (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) and written by Kyle Jarrow and Hans Christian Andersen’s The Nightingale
