Dancers Enjoy Spacious Floor at Dose of the Dead

Dead fans relived a special night in 1971 this past Saturday at Port Chester's Capitol Theatre.

Colorful lights twisted around an empty stage and projections floated over an open dance floor where a few dozen dancers twirled to the music of The Capitol Theatre's past, an unusual scene for the often sold-out theatre.

The theaters second "Dose of the Dead" event Saturday attracted the most dedicated Grateful Dead fans, some from as far as Brooklyn, who would not miss the opportunity to hear the full audio recording of, until then, The Dead's unreleased Feb. 18, 1971 performance.

While a show that had no physical band present did not pull a full crowd, those in attendance smiled, applauded and danced the full night away.

The set list included "Truckin," "Wharf Rat," "Casey Jones," "Me and My Uncle," "Candyman" "Sugar Magnolia," and ended with "Uncle John's Band." Listen to the full show here
