What's your party plan for Super Bowl Sunday?
With so many pubs and restuarants in Port Chester that will feature the big game on TV Sunday, there are lots of options. Of course, many fans of the NFL championship game love to watch and party right at home.
For those staying home, local businesses offer help with take-out. For example, Port Chester's bartaco has Taco Packs for Super Bowl Sunday: 12 tacos and two choices of fillings for $20. And, what's a party without guacamole? Bartaco is offering a 1/2 pt for $6; 1 pt for $11; and 2 pt for $20. For a take out order, give the restaurant a call at 914-937-TACO.
Large gathering spots in Port Chester like Applebees on Westchester Avenue also feature take-out service for their menu favorites.
However, don't make plans to go to Port Chester's Willet House this Sunday. They're not even planning on opening. They've learned from previous years that Super Bowl Sunday is one of their slowest days. The same is true over at EDO Japanese Steakhouse (other than Super Bowl Sunday, they have Sunday - Friday all you can eat at the lounge section of the bar. It's $23.00 and it includes sushi and kitchen food).
Making your own special Super Bowl menu at home? Well, celebrity chef Mario Batali, whose restaurants include Port Chester's Tarry Lodge, has his own special menu for the big game.
Batali told ESPN.com that he's having about 20 people over to watch the game. On his menu:
- Pregame chips and salsa, with cruidte and Greek yogurt dip.
- For the first half, crab cakes and Old Bay tartar sauce in honor of the Ravens.
- Halftime: Hot dogs with sauerkraut from Papaya in New York City.
- Second half: Trader Vic's-style spareribs and Rice-A-Roni (you know, the "San Francisco treat") in honor of the 49ers.
Batali also made a Super Bowl party scene out of food in preparation for the big game - "the HarBowl" in honor of the two brothers who will be opposing each other - using meat, bread and ravioli.
Super Bowl 47 in New Orleans: Kickoff at 6:30 p.m. EST, with the Baltimore Ravens vs. the San Francisco 49ers. Why is this game being called the "HarBowl"? San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh and Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh are brothers.
