The Triathlon will feature over 1,200 athletes this year competing in a .9 mile swim, 25- mile bike; and 6.2 mile run. This year’s tri is a qualifier for the prestigious 2014 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in San Francisco.
The participants are all running to raise donations and awareness for a variety of non-profit organizations:
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training; MAC Angels; Challenged Athletes Foundation; Wounded Warrior Project; and The Rye YMCA, The Blazeman Foundation for ALS.
The Westchester Triathlon Committee, which runs the event, is a non-profit itself. Dozens of Westchester residents spend months putting this together and hundreds from the county and tri-state area train and compete to be part of one of this inspiring and positive competition.
The event raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities that directly help thousands of families and people suffering from some of these diseases.
